Albania to host Iran’s short film ‘Funfair’

The Tirana Int'l Film Festival in Albania is to screen Iran-Canada short ‘Funfair’.

The 2019 edition of the Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF) in Albania has set to screen Iran-Canada short ‘Funfair’.

Directed by Kaveh Mazaheri, ‘Funfair’ will be screened at the 17th edition of the Albanian event later this month.

“Majid, a financially struggling man, comes up with a ploy in order to better the life of his wife Sara,” a synopsis for the film reads.

In 2017, Mazaheri’s film ‘Retouch’ won the Best Short Fiction Film award at 15th edition of the Albanian festival.

The TIFF is the first international film festival and the only one of its kind in Albania.

Launched in 2003, the festival is one of the most important cinematic events in the Balkans and an official Academy Awards qualifying festival.

The festival aims to “create a friendly space for film artists and cinema enthusiasts from Albania, Europe and the entire world to come together and share their linked passion and knowledge of the motion picture art form,” according the website of the TIFF.

It also aims to “bring filmmakers, producers and distributors from all around the world to Tirana, in hopes of fostering future co-operation in this interesting scenic area.”

The 17th edition of the TIFF will take place on September 23-29, 2019.
